Jackson Hole Winter Dream Trip- photo tips

(Youtube Video embedded) Last winter I went to Jackson Wyoming and had the time of my life. I had always dreamed of experiencing the heart of America’s Rocky Mountains covered in fresh powder. I Started each day with a hot cup of coffee, negative temperatures, and the desire to find the wildest parts of America. I’ll share some of my favorite images I took as well as information on the best activities to do. Lastly please check out the embedded link below to a youtube video I made on my trip. If you enjoy please subscribe for more!

The above video shows highlights from my trip in a short cinematic film !

Jackson Hole winter Youtube video summary

I hope you enjoyed watching my youtube video on Jackson Hole in the winter. As you can see, Jackson Hole offers a huge assortment of world class snow and cold weather opportunities. Some of my favorite activities were skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating downtown as well as wildlife and landscape photography in the parks. Those are just my favorite things to do that suit my very fitness oriented and outdoor obsessed personality.

Landscape photography gem!

One of my favorite photoshoots was the Mormon Row.    It was just so incredible in the winter.  This is a seasonal gem, but having the added dimension of snow all over the landscape gave my images an almost mystical look.  Morning was the best lighting as the sun hits the mountains and barns with the magical golden hour glow.  For planning purposes you will have to park about 1.5 miles away from the barns as Antelope flats road closes before you reach the barns in the winter.  I suggest bringing super warm clothes and snow shoes.  It was negative 5 degrees!

Finding the Magical Grand Teton Bison!

The bison are actually fairly simple and predictable to find at Grand Teton National Park year round. The winter is no exception. The most likely spot to see bison is close to Elk Ranch flats along the main highway. With any luck you will find them with the mountains behind. If they aren’t there then likely they are out of view down by the snake river, so you might have to try your luck later in the week! Best of luck and be safe around these amazing animals! Please do not approach them!

Finding Winter Moose !

The winter is a perfect time to find a moose at Grand Teton National Park and Jackson. My favorite spot to find moose is anywhere close to the Gros Ventre River. Try for early in the morning for best results. Just like bison, moose can be very dangerous so give them plenty of space. I would not at all be surprised if you see moose in a variety of other locations early morning, sometimes in large groups. If you show up earlier in the winter you can catch the bulls before they shed their antlers as well.
